I am an amateur gardener. In the process of improving the landscaping in my yard I inadvertently created a little spot that was ideal for hummingbirds to visit. After that I focused my efforts on creating additional wildlife habitat while maintaining a people and dog friendly yard.

This blog is made up of entries from the journal I have been keeping detailing my work and experiences in the garden. Sometimes I have a lot of time and sometimes just fifteen minutes to work in the yard. I hope that you can walk away with an idea for improving the habitat near where you live whether you have an acre or a balcony, twenty minutes a week or hours.

  1. Julie, I just found your blog. Your words about Wally Hansen touched my heart. His love of native plants was so exhuberant, he gave us all an understanding of how important and how beautiful the purely wild things truly are. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.
